Nick Bettany – Leadership Profile

February 21, 2022

Nick Bettany
Chief Executive Officer, LV Care Group.

Nick Bettany co-founded the LV Care Group in 2009, and it’s now the leading provider of older adult care in the Channel Islands. With a background in Jersey’s finance industry and hospitality, he started LV after seeing with his co founders the poor facilities and service level experienced by residents.  After researching the local provision they decided Jersey needed serious investment in the sector to allow residents to enjoy the highest quality care provision and to meet the demographic challenges.

Nick has been a member of the Advisory Board of the Bettany Centre for Entrepreneurship, at Cranfield School of Management for 14 years, and is also the Treasurer and a member of the Board of Trustees for Dementia Jersey; and on the Board of Trustees for Parkinson’s Jersey.

Who has inspired you?

It’s more an ethos than one single person. I’m inspired by businesses like John Lewis which try to build a team of people who are invested in the company, and all working towards the same goal.

How would you describe your leadership style in three words?

From the front.

What makes a successful leader?

Listening. In our industry especially, caring about staff and the end client is absolutely critical and for that you need to listen to what is happening on the front line. I think you also need a clear purpose and for me a desire to make things better is what drives me.

What advice would you give to aspiring leaders?

Research, listen to experts, and then back your judgement and don’t be afraid of making decisions.
